NEW GOAL: $25,000
RAISED TO DATE: $16,000
Donated funds are the cornerstone of VRC's resettlement efforts.
A bridge to self-sufficiency:
Government support to incoming refugees lasts only four months, after which time families are expected to be self-sufficient, relying on standard programs such as food stamps, etc. We know it takes much more for families to become acclimated, to recover from trauma (and in many cases to recover health), to learn English and to connect with sustaining job opportunities.
With ongoing support from the community, we can offer interim financial assistance while families recover from trauma and dislocation and find security and good livelihood in their new country and community.
More funding = More families
As families achieve greater capacity to support themselves, donated funds will be applied to resettling additional families.
- Housing subsidy - up to 12 months
- Transportation assistance
- Grocery subsidy
- Job training assistance/referrals
- Household goods
- Pharmacy and personal care items
What we provide - as needed
