Our mission
Helping refugee and immigrant families from Syria and the war-torn Middle East find homes, jobs and security in the community of Vashon Island in Washington State.
Celebrating achievements!
Two families, refugees from Syria’s civil war, have settled on Vashon with the assistance of the Vashon Resettlement Committee. We celebrate their hard work to adjust to a new environment, develop increased fluency in English, and translate their talents and skills to a new job market. Wide support from our community has been significant in assisting them and helping them feel at home.
Our continued support is needed!
While the adults are now working, their incomes are not yet sufficient to cover all of their expenses without our assistance. VRC continues to work with the families in increasing their job skills and opportunities.
We invite you to join us as ongoing allies and friends.
Here's how to help
Vashon Resettlement Committee is a 501 (C-3) non-profit organization registered in Washington State. The organization is founded and managed by volunteer community members.

Volunteers Needed!
Join us in this exciting work!
We are planning a festival of Middle Eastern music, dance and folk tales to be held in August, 2019 Now is a great time to join in the planning and production of this event!
In addition, we are seeking volunteers with expertise in grant-writing to support our activities. And we are looking for a social media and website volunteer to help us stay current and reach out to the Vashon community about this work.
